Much fun was poked at iPhone fanboys after the pretty comprehensive ‘consolidted.db’ file was found, extracted and exploited to create graphs of a user’s recent and not-so-recent geolocation history. Naturally, the next question to be asked was if Android does the same…

Answer: Yes

Android keeps data located stowed away in files called cache.cell and cache.wifi located within the /data/data/com.google.android.location/files/ directory on your Android devices. To access this information, you need root access. While this amount of data captured by Android is considerably less than that captured by the iPhone, it is still there. Android records the last 50 mobile towers and last 200 wi-fi access points it has seen. Compare this to a years worth of data saved by Big Brother Jobs and Apple. To turn off this ‘feature’ off go to Settings -> Location and Security and uncheck the “Use Wireless Networks” box. This removes the files on 2.3 devices and stops recording to the files on older Android devices.

If you’re a man (or woman) of the Internets, you recognize the start screen above. Yes, Robot Unicorn Attack, the viral flash gaming sensation from Adult Swim, is coming to everybody’s favorite cell platform. Adult Swim says it will be bringing the game to Android for $1, and, based on sales, will port other popular Adult Swim games over to the platform.

In continuing our previous post about the leaked T-Mobile release schedule, which shows 3 new android phones being released in the second half of this year, it has been rumored that the Samsung “Houdini” will be the i7500.  For fun, let’s assume it’s true and take a look at the i7500.

Also shown in the release schedule was the G1 version 2 “Bigfoot”.  While people are claiming hoax on account of the name, it doesn’t seem unlikely that a version 2 G1 is scheduled for release in a few months.  The picture shows us a new pull-out keyboard and rounded edges for the version 2, but there is little indication what new capabilities the new phone will have or what it will be called on release.

Also buzzing in the grapevine is a second Motorola device, called the Ironman. Again from BGR, the phone is rumored to be ready by 3rd Quarter (read this as ‘by Christmas’). It is expected to come with all the features, including WIFI, 3G, >5 Megapixel camera, QWERTY keyboard, and a ‘superfast’ processor. Keep your eyes open; I wouldn’t want to miss this one.
